Active Matter Crossplay and Cross-Progression Explained
The three matchmaking pools, exactly which platforms share progress, and the 23 November 2026 deadline for early Gaijin Store buyers to link accounts.

Separate the two questions
You can play together, but progress does not follow you. In Active Matter those really are two different systems.
On the multiplayer side, crossplay shipped at launch with three pools: your platform only, consoles only (Xbox and PlayStation), or any platform (PC plus consoles). Gaijin stresses that each player has to select or confirm their pool in settings — nothing is on across everything by default.
On the progression side, the official FAQ states that progress sharing is available only between the Steam and Gaijin.Net versions on PC. PC and console do not share.
What each pool means
| Pool | Contains | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Your platform only | Only your platform | Players who care about input fairness and don’t want mouse-and-keyboard against controller |
| Consoles only | Xbox plus PlayStation | Players who only want to fight other console players |
| Any platform | PC plus consoles | Shorter queues and cross-platform squads |
A July 2026 Q&A added one detail: Isolated Raids — the PvE mode — explicitly support crossplay co-op, while cross-platform fighting in Open Raids requires both players to consent, on the grounds that platform differences can affect a match.
So if you just want to play PvE with a friend on another platform, Isolated Raids cover it without needing any agreement about fairness.
How progression actually maps
| Combination | Shared? |
|---|---|
| Steam and Gaijin.Net (both PC) | Shared |
| PC and PlayStation 5 | Not shared |
| PC and Xbox Series X|S | Not shared |
| PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S | Not shared |
This is a product decision, not a technical limit. The FAQ answers the PC-to-console progress question with a flat “No”.
The 23 November deadline for early buyers
If you bought the early version through the Gaijin Store before 15 September 2026, there is one thing to do.
Confirm your purchase record and edition on the Gaijin.Net side, then follow Gaijin’s account-linking instructions to connect it to Steam. It has to be done before 23 November 2026 — that is the published deadline. After linking you receive the matching edition on Steam for free, progress migrates, and you can play through either Steam or the Gaijin.Net launcher.
Two exceptions: existing Premium owners upgrade to Deluxe free, and Elite Squad owners receive the same-reward edition on Steam but without the two extra keys.
Changing your matchmaking pool
Open settings in game, find the matchmaking or multiplayer section, and choose between platform only, consoles only, or any platform. If you care about cross-platform fairness, pick platform only or consoles only. If you care about queue times, pick any platform.
Frequently asked
Can console share progress with PC?
No. The official FAQ says No outright. Switching platform means starting over.
Does PC-versus-console need mutual consent?
In Open Raids, yes. Gaijin designed it that way so platform differences do not affect matches without agreement.
Do the PvE modes support crossplay?
Yes. Gaijin’s wording is that “Isolated Raids will definitely support cross-play.”
What happens if I miss 23 November?
Gaijin has only stated that this is the deadline for claiming the free Steam edition and migrating progress. Nothing has been published about what happens after, so don’t leave it late.
Will PC and console share progress in future?
Gaijin has announced nothing. We don’t speculate.
